Upcoming

Just one more week until the reading at Red Emma's bookstore in Baltimore, MD. It should be fun. Reb Livingston, Mike Snider and I are working on a poetic play to read during our block which, as far as I understand it, will close the reading. It's been fun to write, so hopefully it will be fun to listen to.

5 minutes of company time

Let me take a little break here from my work to tell you a little something about the internet. Now. I'm not a very smart poet. I don't have many opinions about the way in which work is best presented. I just like to read the poets whose work I like.

With that in mind, let me direct you to some online work from one of my favorite poets, Bill Knott. You can find 50 of Knott's poems here, free of charge. I don't know much about this website, and I do feel like it's a bit bare as far as presentation is concerned, but I also don't really care. Knott's work is strong enough to stand on its own no matter where you put it.

I don't know what to say about Knott -- you should read him, that's what I'll say. And you probably already have read him. I'm not pointing you to an unknown poet.

Did you know that Bill Knott is now publishing his own books and looking for bookstores that will give his books away to customers? Knott readers in the DC area will be happy to hear that I asked Politics and Prose if they would participate and they said yes. Kramerbooks said no for some reason. I scolded them. Then I went and drank bourbon at the Kramerbooks bar during their happy hour.

Then I went and ate rabbit stew at some fancy little bistro. Mmmm.

Did you know that the word bistro actually comes from Russian? It's true. But I don't really feel like telling that story right now. Go to Moscow and eat at the Ruski Bistro. Read the little story in the menu. It's all good fun. I recommend the pirogis.
